In celebration of its 75th anniversary, Edgewood ISD is inviting students and community members to showcase their creativity in the 75th Anniversary Legacy Poster Art Contest. This exciting opportunity allows artists of all ages to reflect on the district’s rich history and bright future through original artwork.
“We are excited to see what our talented students and community create to help capture this milestone in Edgewood history,” says George Garnica, EISD Director of Family & Community Engagement.
The theme for the contest is “Edgewood Legacy: Past, Present, Future.” Participants are encouraged to create poster art that honors EISD’s journey from 1950 to 2025 and captures decades of Edgewood Pride. The contest is open to all, and submissions will be judged in three categories; Elementary (K-5), Secondary (6-12) and Community (not currently enrolled in any public, charter or private school).
“Edgewood is filled with talented artists of all ages,” says Daniel Lugo, EISD Director of Fine Arts. “Through this contest, we want to see EISD through their eyes and celebrate their creativity.”
One finalist will be chosen from each category. The EISD community will vote on the winning design during the 75th Anniversary Celebration on November 13, and the winner will be officially announced at the Board of Trustees meeting on November 18.
While there is no monetary prize, the winning artwork will be honored as the official poster of the 75th Anniversary, becoming a lasting symbol of Edgewood ISD’s legacy.
