Coach Salas
This is Coach Salas's first year here at Memorial High School. "I am looking forward to meeting all my students and their parents. If at any point you the parent/guardian or the student has any question please feel free to contact me by phone, email or here on campus. Let me share a little bit about myself."
Coach Salas is a product of the Southside of San Antonio. He attended South San Antonio High School. While at South San Coach Salas played varsity baseball all four years. He was also a member of the Spanish and Chess club. After graduating high school Coach Salas received a scholarship to attend and play baseball at Huston Tillotson University in Austin formerly College). However, life threw him a curveball and left school and enlisted in the United States Marines Corps. While in the Marines, Coach Salas traveled to places such as San Diego, CA., Camp Pendleton, CA., Jacksonville, NC., Pensacola, FL., and Okinawa, Japan.
After being Medically Honorable Discharged Coach Salas returned home to San Antonio and worked downtown on the river as a boat captain giving tours and as a Network Technician for Rio San Antonio Cruises. Even though he enjoyed his time there Coach Salas moved on to Time Warner Cable. Coach Salas started at Time Warner in 2005 and left in 2012. He was a Business Class Installer where he installed VIPs such as Manu Ginobili, George Strait, Red McCombs, and Sean Elliott to name a few. However, due to his injuries, that he suffered in the Marines, Coach Salas had to change careers.
Coach Salas decided to stop working and return to college full time. It was tough not working but with the help and support of his three daughters, Coach Salas attended Palo Alto College(PAC) from January 2013 through May 2014. He graduated with honors and received two associate degrees (History and Interdisciplinary Studies). Upon completing my prerequisites, Coach Salas then transferred to Texas A&M University-San Antonio(TAMU-SA) where he graduated in December 2015. While at TAMUSA, Coach Salas was a Bilingual Education Student Organization(BESO) member. He was also a member of Kappa Delta Pi, History Club-Vice President and Student Veterans of America.
Coach Salas is the father of three beautiful girls. "I owe everything I have learned in life to my grandparents and my parents. Because of their guidance and loving, I am the man I am today."
Coach Salas serves as the Assistant Defensive Line Coach and Head Baseball Coach for Memorial High School.
